There are lots of things that we have to do to keep healthy.
There are many kinds of healthy; it's a big category so have a look at how we've broken it down.

Nutrition

In Canada we're lucky enough to have our own food guide to help us eat right. Click here to see the Canadian Food Guide. Use this website to help you understand the food guide and how to use it to stay healthy.

 Excercise Options

  • Try a fitness class or a water fitness class at the Mission Leisure Center click here and select Skating, Swimming and Fitness for up to date excersise classes.
  • Take your dog for a walk; if you don't have a dog, go for a walk yourself! Be sure to bring some upbeat music and walk to the tempo! Click here for some great safe places to walk, jog, bike or hike!
  • Try signing up for a sport this year; ask the gym teachers at your school what kind of teams there are at your school if you don't already know, if nothing seems interesting there are tons of local teams that could always use another player. Don't worry about it if you're not signing up with friends; if it's something you like doing, you'll make friends with the people on your team who'll like doing that sport too!
  • The Leisure Center has an amazing gym, they also have a program for youth in Mission! Check it out here by clicking on the Children/Youth Programs and scroll down to the last page.
  • Specifically for girls: try the Seventeen website or the CosmoGirl website! They're always being updated with the latest on health and staying fit! If you have a hard time staying motivated, check out the blogs of the teens that are going through the same fitness plans that you'd be trying with these websites.
  • Try to excercise with someone, it's always more fun if you have someone to share your frustrations and triumphs with; plus you can keep eachother motivated!
